The Strausberg Museum of Local History (located opposite the "Elisabethstraße" trolley stop) is a local historical museum funded by the city. Over its history (it was founded in 1908), it has collected representative items and documents related to the culture and life of the city’s residents. Throughout various building’s rooms, erected in 1861 and extensively renovated between 1996 and 1999, an ever-changing display related to the history of the city of Strausberg from its founding to the present is on display. Special exhibitions which supplement the historical collection by highlighting individual topics are presented in the spacious staircase. The upper floor holds the museum library, whose holdings concentrate particularly on Strausberg newspapers and magazines and local calendars, but which also include works of local history, available for study. Upon receipt of a separate request, the museum library is open every Tuesday between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. A parking lot is located next to the house. Hours of operation: Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 10:00 AM and Noon, and from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
